If I lead a retreat, this is the song I would have used. It’s a little dark but I think it’s a song about unity.
Dark, you can’t come soon enough for me Saved, from one more day of misery Everything I love Get back for me now Everyone I love I need you now Don’t forget a million miles for me Safe and another day passed by me Everything I love Get back for me now Everyone I love I need you now So I conned, I lied I lied to me too (so what?) So I conned, I lied I lied to me too (so what?) Hold out for the ones you know will love you Hide out from the ones you know will love you You, you too Hike to the edge and barely there Slow To make my move, I’m almost there Everything I say I say to me first Everything I do I do to me first So what, I lied I lied to me too (so what?) So what, I lied I lied to me too Hold out for the ones you know will love you Hide out from the ones you know will love you You, you too Dark you can’t come soon enough for me
(I will seriously post something besides Tegan and Sara, eventually).
First off, I will like to say that I will kick 2006-2007 Austin’s Ass for not getting into the fun festivities that this great school has to offer. What a tool he was! Also, this isn’t my farewell to Mitty blog post, that will be a thousands times more mopey.
So here is to all the great memories I had from our great spirit events at our school. To my fake fights with Gage, to getting damaged stuck in my head due to 2 straight weeks of practice with the afro chicks, to me almost screwing up to Baba O’Riley, and to Alex’s injury getting me so freaking worried. They were great memories and I’ll never forget the people I had them with. That’s whats so great about these events, the togetherness that we finally have with both friends and people you normally don’t hang out with (well, actually this is more true if you are in an event. Shame on the people that didn’t sign up ever. You know who you are *choughericjustinsamerdavidect.chough*). As our class rallys up together, we become a whole and we tend to kick more ass that way. We do things better, together (rhyme win). Another aspect I love is the creativity. I love how I can finally dress up like Evel Knievel or Commissioner Gordon. It’s a great way to express or individuality while the themes keep us together. Or you could all dress up in the same thing. Points to you for your unity! Also, painting is badass too!
Of course I have to thank all the Student Gov. people. I know it isn’t over just yet. You have your little Prom to organize and I wish the best of luck on that. You guys are so welcoming and you lead with compassion while also having fun with it. I can imagine how stressful it is but thanks for putting up with any my bullcrap and keeping in with the spirit of having fun. Also a personal thanks to Marky Marc for believing in me. Another thanks to all the participants and not to those jerks that didn’t sign up. Our cheerleading squads are filled with passion and emotion and those 2009ers are just flash (except for that Superman jump, that was pretty cool). We are guaranteed a win when we do the dance and thanks to all the choreographers, trainers, and participants that made it so awesome and fun. Finally, thanks for the students that didn’t sign up for believing in all of us and dressing up and cheering your ass off.
I will like to end this blog with a disclaimer about the 2009-2010 election of student gov in that I signed up because I love all this stuff. Having the passion was a definite given but I cannot say anything more about how I would of lead and I think it was for the best because I am a lazy bum and right now I am supposed to be making up late work. Testament to my commitment much?
